The Best Medicine

The Best Medicine

My job can be pretty crazy at times. I work under intense deadlines, which means things at the office are almost always fast-paced. It’s a cool job though; the day flies by and before I know it, my time is up and I’m getting ready to head home. I also work with some great people – I’ve hit the jackpot there, and I know it.

But sometimes everything seems to hit all at once which makes for some crazy/stressful days! Recently, I had one of those mornings (you know them…the kind where everything needs to be done immediately and you don’t even know where to start first), and I ended up working through lunch.

My mom called right around then and asked for my work email address as she wanted to send me a picture from her cell phone…and this is what she sent.

Hi ma!

As soon as it popped up on my screen, I just about died laughing! This is definitely not the first time Misty has rolled in burrs and given herself a unicorn horn, and it won’t be the last. But just seeing her sweet face with that silly hairdo on my screen was just what I needed. I laughed so hard and forwarded the picture around to my co-workers.

All of a sudden I felt so much better. I could not wait to get off work, head to the barn, and untangle all of those burrs. I couldn’t wait to bring her in the barn, put her in crossties, and laugh while she nips at me for pulling on her forelock. No matter how dirty she is, no matter how many burrs are in her mane and tail, no matter how hot or cold it is outside, Misty is always my favorite part of the day. She truly is the best medicine.

Horses are just so cool like that.
